what video camera, camcorder for about 400$ i could also use as a web cam?
id like buy a video camera which i could use as a webcam also, cos of the quality, can you tell me which models i am looking for?
If you have a camera that can transfer video via FireWire (also known as “DV,” “i.Link,” and “IEEE 1394″), you can use that camcorder as a webcam. Windows Live Messenger supports this. You can also use a FireWire connection through a program called “DVDriver” to get your messenger program to recognize your FireWire camcorder as a webcam:

If your computer doesn’t have a FireWire port, you can probably install a FireWire card on your computer, they’re not very expensive.
So, just about any MiniDV camcorder should be able to be used as a webcam. Other USB cameras use different video formats, and might be able to be used, but you’d have to check. Are there any particular ones you have in mind?
