Battery Life???
Hi.
I’ve got two batteries wnich are respectively 2000 mAh @ 12V DC and 7000 mAh @ 12V DC…..
How long will each of them last if I want to power a mini-DVR and a CCTV covert camera up with them….
DVR specs – 5V DC +- 10%, 1A
camera specs – 12V DC , 100mA

the camera is left on a busy construction site with set motion detection on the DVR, which means that the camera will be working non-stop, the DVR – only if there is a motion….the motion level is set on level 3 out of 5 possible where level 5 means tinest motion will activate the DVR
There is no problem that the camera requires 5 V and i’m powering it up with 12V, because i’ve tried already and the camera and DVR are working fine without any problems. but my question is still unanswered….i need to know how long will the battery last if both DVR and camera are powered up from it.

If the specs are accurate, the 7000 mAh battery will last over 3 times as long as the 2000 mAh battery.
Now, assuming that the specs are accurate for the camera, and the battery is fully charged…
2000 mAh / 100 mAh = 20 hours for powering the camera.
7000 mAh /100 mAh = 70 hours for powering the camera.
The DVR uses 5 volts, so you need a different voltage from your batteries to power the DVR. This will require a converter or regulator. But because the camera draws a full ampere, your battery life will be considerably less–probably around 7 hours for the 7000 mAh battery, if that (there will be some losses to the converter to heat, etc.).
You’ll have to find a step down device (12v to 5v) on your own.
