Disk Drive?
I have a friends old hp a210e computer, the cd writing drive opens fine, but the cd-reading drive…..well. Okay i can get it open using the manual eject button (little hole) with a paperclip combo, the gears work fine, i do that “repeatedly click the eject/in button before the tray closes” thing. also when i forcefully eject it with paper clip, and i put a disk in (geexbox if you must know) it will eject when i push the button, and it ejects normally when geexbox ejects its loading cd. But in windows, and during boot up it will not eject normally. The green light signalling that the machine got the message lights up, but no ejecting occurs, right clicking on the drive in windows and hitting eject results in the same useless flashing of light…..HELPPPP!!!!!!!!! Also any tips on removing the drive from its bay would greatly be appreciated.
you said the gears work fine, I am assuming that your basing this off of the manual eject and how the tray moves in and out by hand, although I notice you said the tray opens when commanded by software to do so. Hmm… I think it is possible that the operating system may be at fault, possibly the driver too. Try uninstalling the driver and rebooting, the computer will automatically reinstall the driver software, if that doesn’t work, back up necessary files and reinstall the OS, or upgrade to a new OS. If all that fails the drive logic controller may be faulty and may only be answering to the specific coding from the software of the install CD. Good luck.
