Using a Hidden Camera as Part of Your Surveillance System
People make use of a hidden camera to discreetly survey the activities in their home or office. There are many pros and cons in using such cameras, but you should be fully aware of them, and the legal ethics involved. If ever you are caught concealing a camera in public premises such as your office or business center, you should be able to come up with a credible explanation. If you fail to come up with an acceptable explanation then you may end up facing a lawsuit.
Most of the time it is a good idea to install hidden cameras at your home or office to complement the security systems. If you have suspicions about a particular employee, you can watch them for a while and armed with solid proof, you can proceed with whatever action you want to take. Similarly, if you want to watch a new nanny that has come over to help you look after your children, you can watch them discreetly especially if you have trouble getting a nanny with good references.
Sometimes a surveillance camera may be hidden, so that recorded activities may not be known by those being recorded. A surveillance camera can also be placed where it is visible to other people like shops, malls, hospitals, government offices and so on. Detectives can also use covert cameras when they want to follow someone for their client and record their activities. These covert surveillance systems are used by people constantly to record the activities of a person or a group of people who are involved in underhand activities. Some surveillance cameras that are really hard to find are:
• Wired hidden cameras: They are actually cheaper than their wireless counterparts are and they can be setup within minutes, you can set them up so that the wires do not stand out.
• Wireless cameras are loved by all and used more frequently. They can be ingeniously disguised in a teddy bear, lighting fixtures, lampshades and anywhere you please. Wireless cameras send their signals via transmitter to receiving sets and you can record the video for later viewing.
• Pinhole spy cameras are used when there is not enough space to place a big camera. They blend naturally into the environment and can be placed absolutely anywhere. There are sly cameras that can be worn on your clothing. Officers who want to get hold of corrupt politicians, drug traffickers and other people that break the law use these.
A hidden camera is useful to police officials and other law enforcement officers to record evidence to make an arrest. They use them to arrest drunken drivers, or include them in tickets to those who jump red lights. Covert cameras can easily be used by anyone anywhere.
Even though there are many ethical issues regarding the use of nanny cameras at home or even at the office, through the usage of such cameras, the exploitation, the kicking and the slapping done by caregivers have been brought to light. Small covert cameras are also installed in internet centers to keep customers from browsing porn sites. In spite of all this, there are experts in law, ethics and privacy who disagree with the usage of hidden surveillance systems. Some people tell their caregivers beforehand that they will be recorded from time to time with a camera; in this way, it may not be illegal.
