how much time in video footage can a 512mb sd card hold on a 4.1mega pixel digital video camcorder?
to a none techy person like me has anyone the answer please.ty
with MPEG2 compression, SD video is 6 mbps and HD video is 24 mbps. converting to memory bytes, 512 MB will hold about 170 seconds of HD or less than 3 minutes total. However this type of card is too slow to load in real time, so the video first goes to the cameras internal buffer. Most cameras can buffer about 1 minute of SD or 15 seconds of HD, so that is the maximum limit of a continuous shot.
