Do You Need Self Hypnosis Recordings?
It is very important that you understand that there is a difference between self hypnosis and guided hypnosis, especially if you will be using recordings. When you purchase pre-recorded audio that contains someone else’s voice, this is not self hypnosis at all. It is guided hypnosis. However, if you make your own recordings, in your voice, using your own natural words, this is a form of self hypnosis.
Many people find that they cannot reach a relaxed hypnotic state without recordings. Some find that they do better with pre-recorded audio in someone else’s voice, while others find that they respond better to their own voice. You have to determine what works best for you, and never feel like you are cheating – because you aren’t.
Recordings can be used to not only reach the hypnotic state that is desired, but also for the hypnotic suggestions that you require once you’ve reached that state of relaxation. Some people only use recordings to reach the hypnotic state, but in most cases, this depends on the issue at hand – the reason for self hypnosis in the first place.
It is also important to understand that no matter how professional or unprofessional the recording may be, it usually takes more than a recording to achieve a hypnotic state. The environmental conditions must be right. You must be open to being hypnotized, and of course, you must be willing to fully relax. If this isn’t the case, no recordings will work – no matter how well made they are. The key to reaching that state of relaxation is to totally clear your mind, and if you are a natural worrier with an active mind, learning to do this can prove quite difficult.
Of course, you also have the option of using recordings to help you relax and clear your mind. Often, people use recordings of the wind blowing, or the sea rushing up on the beach, birds singing, or a number of other sound recordings that actually serve to make the person feel more at peace – more relaxed. Other people don’t use recordings at all, and instead use aromas, such as those used for aromatherapy. Instead of a sound comforting and soothing their minds, the aroma soothes the mind.
Some people use a combination of soothing sound recordings and aromas, while still others use soothing sounds, aromatherapy, and voice recordings together. Sometimes, it takes a while to figure out what works best for you, but with a little time and patience, you will find what works best for you – and you will know whether you need voice recordings or not for your self hypnosis sessions.
