What other achievements or records by athletes or teams will be standing well into the future, if not forever?
wilt chamberlains single season rebounding record(27.2 rpg, i think) wont ever be broken. he played in a different era with less really tall players and less rules to stop certain things that he could and did do. He was also a freakishly gifted athlete who was really fast and could jump really well all of that and he was over 7 feet tall
his (wilt’s) single season scoring record (50.4 ppg) will likely never be broken but it could be if some one with ridiculous skill came along. the rules were different when he played and although it was still quite a feat even he probably couldnt match his own records(rebounding and scoring) if he were playing in today’s league. he also had 100 point game which is single game record and probably wont be broken
another record that will likely never be broken but could be is cal ripken jr’s consecutive game streak. his streak spanned so many seasons and he was able to keep a level of play to keep his starting spot and make some all-star games along the way. his record is over 500 more than the 2nd closest person ( lou gehrig has 2130 and cal has 2632)
finally cy youngs win record of 511 will very likely never be broken. the new rules in the MLB pretty much dont allow a pitcher to get that many wins nowadays. just so you know he also has the record for most starts (815), innings pitched(7354 2/3) and complete games(749) which likely also will never be touched so there is a reason he has the most wins, not to say he was a bad pitcher but that he played more than anyone likely ever will again
heres another little add-on, the boston celtics (with coach red auerbach and team leader bill russell) championship win streak of 8 and winning 9 out of 10 from 1956-1966
and to go along with what was already said about john wooden’s 88 game win streak. his 10 NCAA championships and 7 in a row at UCLA and had 4 perfect seasons(30-0) and 38 straight wins in the NCAA tournament will all probably remain college records
