I suspect some kind of surveillance hidden in my home?
I am not the paranoid type but ever since we moved in I noticed that every day there is a distinct noise that comes from a beam in the wall. It sounds electronic like a download and usually happens around the same time everyday but sometimes happens at other times too. I considered that maybe our Dish DVR was making the noise so I unplugged it and the same noise came. I had read that there can be radio interference with spy devices. I have a baby monitor main base in my bedroom and the portable one in my living room. One day I put the main base in the living room and the portable in my bedroom so I could hear the phone if it rang and there was a high pitched interference coming from the portable in my bedroom. So it seemed there was interference coming from my living room. There are no pipes over there as it is an outside wall. I can’t figure out what is causing this noise, it is very distinct “THUNK” noise, sounds electronic in origin.
Most surveillance devices don’t make noise. If they did people would find them. So lets assume this is some sort of home made device, (if it exists). Look at your wall carefully. Look for any tiny holes. Spy cameras require only a very tiny hole for their lenses. Plug up any holes. This can be done with nearly anything, play dough, glue, plaster, etc.
Is the house yours? (Did you buy it?) Do you rent? If the house is yours then remove a small section of the wall and have a look since I assume the beam is not exposed. Is there a plug in near the area? Don’t cut into a live wire. This is an extreme measure of course.
Has your husband/mate been acting a bit odd lately? Searching through things perhaps? If there really is a device in your home then perhaps he/she suspects you of cheating.
Since you claim this happens every day at the same time get a stethoscope and listen more carefully at the area so you can try to pinpoint it.
If you and your mate are not involved in any illegal activity or have access to sensitive information then I don’t see any reason for there to be surveillance items in your place. If the noise was in the bedroom or the bathroom maybe a pervert would install something like that, but not in a living room.
