Took the camera on a cruise vacation. Gave it to the kids to film, took it snorkeling underwater and para-sailing. The HD video in it’s final form (imported into iMovie on an iMac) was surprisingly good. Smooth, clear. When played back over a TV or a computer, it was choppy, but again the final output was impressive. Handled underwater, sand on the beach, etc. fine without any problems. The built-in screen is hard to see in the sunlight so you have to trust or guesstimate what you are shooting. There are some modes to help with this but we couldn’t figure them out.
Now the big reservation – terrible battery life. With the included battery we got about 30 minutes of hi def capture before it went dead. Took a few hours to charge again.
In case you want a fun, easy to use waterproof camera that takes very good video and are willing to get extra batteries, that is a wonderful choice!
