toshiba camileo question?
when the camera is connected to a PC via usb is the camera still functional or does it revert to a storage device purely for transferring files. some cheaper cameras do this. i want to be able to capture video from the camera to my computer hard drive, and i was thinking of buying the toshiba camileo x100.
your can only transfer via firewire or analog SD video live to a computer. USB is too slow for anything except “webcam” quality video. back in the Windows98 days, Sony had a Webcam adaptor for some of its digital8 cameras, but never bothered to update the drivers for newer operating systems. it was pretty bad video. the cheapest option for direct recording from the camcorder would be the Canon ZR960 with firewire.
